My name is Lilly Hurd and I'm so glad you're here! In 2016 I traded my high heels for hiking boots and left the world of corporate Boston behind to discover Scotland and my Highland MacKenzie roots. I have since spent extensive time exploring off the beaten path and writing about Scottish heritage. I share the resulting stories and photos on my blog. I now live off-grid in the Maine woods with my husband, park ranger/writer  Andrew Vietze , and return to Scotland whenever it calls me back.

 

My first full length book  Lochs & Legends , published by  Harper Collins  and cowritten with  Andy the Highlander , released on August 1, 2024 and is now a Sunday Times Bestseller. I am currently working on a Pictish historical novel set in 7th Century Scotland.
